A calm, chronological guide to the Anchor Health experience — from the conversation before your appointment to the plan you leave with and the follow-up that comes next.
The first Anchor Health visit is designed to help Dr. Paule Joseph understand the person behind the appointment. There is time to talk about what brought you in, what has been happening beneath the surface, and what kind of support would make your health feel more manageable.
This page explains the experience. When you are ready for the practical intake step, visit Get Started to share your health history before the appointment. Then book your visit or call 301-301-9748 to schedule.
The Visit, In Sequence
The first visit is the beginning of a relationship, not a one-time handoff. Dr. Joseph’s approach brings physical health, mental health, lifestyle, and social context into the same conversation. That whole-person perspective supports care across family medicine, mental health, women’s health, pediatric care, and weight and metabolic health.
Telehealth means you can join from a quiet, private place anywhere in Maryland. Secure video, no waiting room, and the same provider each time make it easier to keep the care plan connected to real life.
Your Clinician
“The relationship between a patient and their primary care provider is the most underrated tool in medicine. When I know someone’s full story, I can catch what lab results miss and prevent what acute care reacts to.”
Dr. Paule Valery Joseph, PhD, MBA, CRNP, FAAN
Founder, Anchor Health · Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner
National Academy of Medicine · Guggenheim Fellow · TED Fellow
Common Questions
Have your current medications and dosages, preferred pharmacy, recent lab results or specialist notes if available, and a quiet, private place for the video visit. You will also need a device with a camera and microphone and a photo ID for identity verification.
Dr. Joseph listens for more than the reason you booked. She wants to understand your symptoms, priorities, health history, daily routines, stress, sleep, medications, and what has or has not helped before so the plan fits your whole life.
Yes. Before the visit ends, Dr. Joseph reviews what you discussed, explains the next steps, and makes sure you understand the plan. That may include labs, referrals, medication changes, monitoring, or a focused next appointment when appropriate.
Follow-up is based on your care plan rather than a generic interval. Dr. Joseph may recommend a planned visit, lab review, medication check-in, or other contact point depending on what you are working on and what needs to be monitored.
